Year Started With Body Limits – 2003

Martin began his training as a gym instructor and then took his knowledge and interest to sports massage and has since followed this to the highest level in the field. He has treated a vast and complicated array of injuries including postural problems and highly chronic conditions. Martin has often considered furthering his training in manipulative or acupuncture therapy but at present has decided to be a specialist in the art of soft tissue treatments and technique.
Martin has worked at Body Limits since 2003, the English Institute of Sport since 2008 (where he works with the National Badminton team) and has been head hunted to travel with the National Triathlon team in a soigneur role. With the combination of these three lines of work (public, badminton and triathlon) he has gained a great deal of knowledge in treating of repetitive injuries, especially in the shoulder and knee.
Martin’s interests lie firstly in cycling where he raced internationally collecting bronze at national level and was a winner of a international stage race as a school boy which fielded a certain Mark Cavendish!
After a nasty bout of glandular fever it became very difficult to make the sudden jump to the senior level. After being off for a year and a half with illness, missing the vital strength training, the increased quality of the field and the increase of gears available (school boys have restricted gearing on thier bikes), Martin was left at a crossroads.
After a cycling obsessed lifestyle he now had to decide whether to carry on trying to make pro or be a grown up.
Believe it or not he chose the grown up path and became an amateur sportsman and decided to try triathlon. Not one to just dip his toe in the water he went straight into the full Ironman distance and now holds a PB of 10:20 minutes set in Frankfurt 2009.
Martin continues with his vocational training, always striving to keep up to date on his knowledge.
Being part of a fantastic team at Body Limits for so long makes work something to look forward to and is never a chore.
