I have been working as a sports therapist and gym rehabilitation instructor now for two years and thoroughly enjoy working in these roles. My ability to communicate sound clinical reasoning to clients while providing quality hands on treatment has helped me gain their trust as well as repeat business.
I have experience working in many different environments including pitch-side, clinics and events. This has provided me with the skills to work well under pressure, communicate in a direct and informative manner as well as being very professional at all times.
I have recently worked as a Sports Therapist for the Bletchley Rugby Club as well as the MK Dons Ladies FC while also providing both with first aid cover on match days. I feel that this experience in the field has been a huge learning curve while helping me to develop my skills in this area by continuously being tested and challenged. Working with the teams has also tuned my ability to communicate with players as well as the managers and coaches. I’ve always kept any treatment or incident documented for legal purposes as well efficiency in the role.
During my time spent working in retail and in a private clinic, both on reception and as a therapist, I have developed a very high standard of customer care and service skills. I believe in the importance of good customer care especially in stressful times involving discomfort or pain. My approach is always to remain calm, gain the patient’s confidence and earn their trust.
I think it is hugely important to effectively communicate to the patient regarding their particular injury or reason for pain and also the proposed treatment plan, so they feel comfortable before going ahead. It’s also a way for the patient to communicate their fears to their therapist, which provides the chance to verbally calm nerves and reassure.
